The basis of Starry Night consists of acrylic paint. Maaike then used more than 4,000 plastic residual materials to give this work of art its unique appearance.
The original work of Maaike's Starry Night is currently hanging in Belgium. The version you see here is a special edition: it is a print of the original that has been scanned in such a way that it appears as if you can see the plastic residual materials. Maaike then re-covered part of the artwork with plastic residual materials again.
